IQUIQUE, febrero 29.- Dos menores se encuentran internados en estado de gravedad tras consumir medicamentos que hallaron abandonados en un basural clandestino en el sector de Santa Rosa (ex La Negra), en Alto Hospicio. Los niños, identificados como Manuel Rossell Muñoz (4) y Josué Parada Venegas (5), estaban jugando en un microbasural del sector, cuando en un momento, de entre los residuos extrajeron unas cajas de medicamentos (Carbamacepina) de la cual consumieron al menos una veintena de pastillas.
A los pocos minutos los medicamentos les ocasionaron una serie de complicaciones en su estado de salud que obligó a trasladarlos de urgencia a la posta de Alto Hospicio y, posteriormente, derivarlos al Hospital de Iquique, debido a la complejidad de su cuadro. Los menores presentaron crisis convulsivas, obstrucción de la vía área, encefalopatías, que los mantienen internados en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos del recinto asistencial.
El fármaco consumido por los pequeños es utilizado para el tratamiento de crisis epilépticas, en enfermedades maniacodepresivas, entre otros. Fuera de ello ingirieron Paracetamol y Prednisona.
Rachel Muñoz, madre de Manuel Rossel, explicó que su hijo se encuentra en estado de coma debido a la ingesta de los medicamentos. "Mi hijo estaba jugando con un amigo en el basural y encontraron unas pastillas que se las tomaron. Ahí la gente bota de todo y no hay conciencia sobre la probabilidad que menores puedan recoger algo que complique su vida. Espero que mi niño se pueda salvar", puntualizó.
Tras los hechos, personal de la Municipalidad de Alto Hospicio desarrolló un completo operativo en el área para eliminar la totalidad de los desechos del basural clandestino. También, el alcalde de la comuna, Ramón Galleguillos, recorrió la zona y expresó su preocupación por la eliminación indiscriminada de basura en el área. "Tomaremos todas las medidas y haremos una completa limpieza del lugar, para garantizar que no ocurran nuevamente esta clase de accidentes, aunque -sin duda- se requiere de la colaboración de la misma comunidad", precisó.
Además, inspectores del Ministerio de Salud realizaron una completa fiscalización en el área para determinar si existían otros puntos donde se hallaron más medicamentos, sin embargo, no encontraron nuevas dosis en el área. Aunque ambos menores se encuentran graves, pero sin riesgo de muerte, la situación más compleja la enfrenta Manuel Rossel, quien presenta compromiso de conciencia, consignó La Tercera Digital.
